Hall’s move stuns Clarendon

Clarendon College’s top Class Three athlete, middle distance runner Alexjordan Hall will not get the chance to defend her 800 metres and 1500m titles at next year’s ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.

Hall, a first-year Class Three athlete, won the 800m in 2:14.92 and the 1,500m in 4:47.35. She went on to capture both events at the National Junior Championships in the Under-18 category and was an early favourite to defend both titles in Class Three at next year’s ISSA championships.

In a surprise development Hall has moved to neighbouring Vere Technical and she will not be allowed to compete at Champs next year because, based on ISSA’s rules, she will be forced to sit out a year.

Clarendon College head coach Davion Chanteloupe, who is entering his second year at the helm, is unhappy about the way his young charge has departed the school.

“We at Clarendon College were very surprised about this move. Up to two weeks before the opening of school, we got word from Hall that she would be back at Clarendon College after hearing rumours about her leaving,” said Chanteloupe.

According to Chanteloupe, Hall has decided to make the switch with middle-distance coach Orane Gordon, who has also moved to Vere Technical.

“Gordon who coached the middle-distance athletes at Clarendon College, has moved to Vere Technical and he took her with him. I wish all the best for Hall going forward as she is an extremely gifted athlete,” said Chanteloupe.
