Tru-Juice continue to flow JPL newcomers maintain perfect win streak

Newcomers Tru-Juice Football Club continued their impressive run in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) on Sunday, moving to the top of the standings after a 1-0 win over Molynes United at the Stadium East playing field.
Daniel Roberts netted the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute, as Tru-Juice, unbeaten in three games, moved to seven points, ahead of Montego Bay United on goal difference.
At Drewsland Mini Stadium, MoBay United toppled previous leaders Racing from the summit after a 1-0 victory.
MoBay United controlled the match from start to finish, and Jourdain Fletcher fired home a goal from inside the box in the 27th minute to give Javier Ainstein’s team all three points.
“I really appreciate the effort of the players,” said Ainstein in post-match comments.
“We controlled the game. In some moments, Racing tried to equalise with some transition, but the team played really good.
“I am happy that we scored in the first half and managed the match. Maybe we could score again, but it wasn’t possible. But it was a really good performance from the team,” Ainstein reflected.
Racing’s coach Densill Theobald also commended his players, despite their losing effort.
“I give my team plenty of credit for the way we performed, how we applied ourselves, the structure of what we want to see in attack and in defence, and I am very much proud of the effort they gave,” he said.
Meanwhile, defending champions Portmore United opened their season with an emphatic 4-1 win over Humble Lion at Ferdi Neita Park.
Tarick Xinines (64th, 70th) led the way with a brace, while Stephen Young (64th) and Tedj Bryan (87th) got the other goals for Portmore.
Kemar Mullings (83rd) netted Humble Lion’s consolation.
At Turner’s Oval, Adrian Reid’s 83rd-minute goal gave Cavalier all three points against Arnett Gardens, in an exciting contest.
Cavalier went 2-0 up through Jeovanni Laing (14th) and Luis Watson (20th), but goals from Giovanni Taylor (27th) and Jamone Shepherd (70th) levelled the score at 2-2.
Cavalier would take all the spoils, thanks to Reid’s decisive late strike.
Mount Pleasant Football Academy registered their first point in three matches, beating Dunbeholden 2-0 on goals from Trayvonne Reid (17th, penalty) and Nicholas Nelson (22nd).
Tivoli Gardens FC and Chapelton Maroons battled to a 1-1 draw at Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
Levaughn Williams fired the home team in front after 27 minutes, but Brian Brown’s 40th-minute strike secured a share of the points for the Maroons.
