Manning Cup heats up Second round kicks off with top unseeded teams meeting seeded teams

October 07, 2026

The second round of the ISSA Manning Cup is set to kick off today as the top unseeded teams from the first round will join with the seeded teams in schoolboy football action across the corporate area.

In Group A action, perennial title contenders Jamaica College (JC) will host St Catherine High at the Ashenheim Stadium in a clash of two seeded teams.

JC, who boast one of the best squads in the competition, will be buoyed by the return of Jamone Lyle, who made his senior debut for the Reggae Boyz in the Concacaf Nations League.

Over at Heroes Circle, Wolmer’s Boys will welcome Camperdown High, with the Wolmerians expected to start as slight favourites.

However, they will have toppled a confident Camperdown unit who qualified for the second round after a perfect record in the first round.

To close out Group A action on the day, Jose Marti Technical will face off against Campion College in their encounter.

Jose Marti qualified for the second round after finishing second in their first-round group with a record of fours wins in six games.

They will face off against a seeded Campion unit who will be looking to return to winning ways after falling to Eltham High in the round of 16 of the Walker Cup.

GROUP B

In Group B action, defending Manning Cup champions Excelsior High will start as favourites when they host St Jago High.

Excelsior have enjoyed a strong start to their Walker Cup campaign this season, and will look to bring their prodigious form into their Manning Cup title defence.

Over at Red Hills Road, Calabar High will host high-flying Norman Manley High in their second round opener.

Calabar, the seeded team in the fixture, will start as slight favourites but will be wary of a Norman Manley team that has scored 28 goals in six games during the first round.

Charlie Smith High will also be in action when they travel to Holy Trinity High for their match-up.

GROUP C

In Group C, the giants of North Street Kingston College (KC) will open their account with an away trip to Penwood High.

KC are expected to get the better of Penwood while the hosts will look to repeat their performance from 2024 when they held KC to a 2-2 draw.

The feature match of the group, however, will be at Bumper Hall when St Andrew Technical face St George’s College (STGC).

Both teams will be hunting for the win after STATHS were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Walker Cup on penalties by KC, while STGC were narrowly edged in the round of 16 by JC.

GROUP D

Over in Group D, former Manning Cup champions Mona High will be confident of getting another win when they travel to Denham Town High in their second-round opener.

Mona will enter the contest as heavy favourites, as Denham Town have looked far from their usual best this season.
