My underage sister is having sex
This is the second time I am writing to you. I enjoy listening to your radio show and reading your column.
I am 17 years old and I am not sexually active. My younger sister is sexually active. She told me the very first night she had sex. Her school had a football game and she went to it, and when she came home I noticed that something was wrong. We sleep in the same room and on the same bed. We keep secrets for each other.
I asked her what happened, promising not to say anything. She told me that she had sex with one of the guys who was on the team.
I know they liked each other, but I did not know that she would have sex with him so soon. She said he used a condom and he was very large. My parents love my sister more than I.
I don't know what they would do if they found out that she had sex. She is not even 16 as yet, but she is going to be soon. Should I report it to my parents?
You said that you promised to keep this matter in confidence. Why would you now want to report your sister to your parents?
Is it because you feel they would condemn her now and love you? I know your sister, according to law, could not consent, so the young man can find himself in serious trouble.
But I am afraid that I could not encourage you to tell your parents. Your sister would hate you for life. She confided in you.
She did not have to tell you what took place. So keep that between the both of you.
