Church members whispering because we had sex before marriage

Dear Pastor,

I am 24 years old, and I have a story to tell that makes me very embarrassed. I am a Christian, and I fell in love with a young man. We got engaged and were

introduced to our church as an engaged couple to be married. A better man I couldn't expect to have.

Unfortunately, Pastor, my husband and I had sex before we were married and I got pregnant. We had already set the date for the wedding, but we knew that if I carried the pregnancy, the child would be born seven months after we were married, and everybody would know that I got pregnant before we were married.

Now we have a beautiful baby boy, and all the members of the church are aware that my husband impregnated me before we were married. People are whispering. Some even asked if the baby was premature, but it wasn't.

Our pastor hasn't asked us anything, but I am sure that he is aware of what happened. I just want to ask you for your suggestion. Would you suggest that we go to our pastor and talk about this thing so that he can say something to the church and we can ask the church to forgive us for letting down the church and for not setting good example?

- R.P.

Dear R.P.,

If you believe that you should talk to the pastor, go right ahead and do so. At least that would stop the whispering. I understand how you feel. Right now, you are embarrassed. But I am happy that you have a healthy child. Take care of your child and your husband. In fact, both of you should just take care of each other.
