Port Antonio, Portland:

Since its inception in 2001, Cristal Nightclub has maintained its place as an entertainment getaway for dancehall fans.

The club, which has managed to hold its head above water, despite the downturn in entertainment throughout the eastern parish of Portland, is still seen as ideal location to chill, drink, and do some of the latest dance moves.

"It has been a long journey," said Peter Hall, owner of Cristal Nightclub.

"We tried promoting exotic dancing and entertainment for the first two years, but quickly realised that fans were not so much impressed with the girls, and were instead clamouring for musical entertainment. So, in 2003, we started the transition, and today we are what we are, and what the public have requested."

According to Hall, since making the switch from exotic dancing to an entertainment nightclub, the results and responses have been overwhelming, especially during special events and promotions.

GRATEFUL

Cristal Nightclub, which is located along West Palm Court, boasts a spacious outdoor lawn and a parking lot, adjacent to the facility.

"We are basically holding our own, and I must take time out to thank the people of Portland, who have supported us over the years. I am also grateful for the opportunity given to me and my brothers, who were somewhat careless and carefree during our earlier years. Today, we have grown up and have become responsible adults, and entertainment is what we have invested in," he added.

On Saturday, October 27, THE STAR's pop-up series, Magnum Star Live, will be making its first stop at Hall's Cristal Nightclub. The series will be making stops in non-traditional stage show locations across Jamaica. For the kick-off event on Saturday, the featured performer will be dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta. Ricky Trooper will be doing selecting duties.

The series, sponsored by Magnum Xplosion, SpyTech and Konka, will also have an in-paper element, with features the artiste and the parish where the event will take place each month.
