Fitness: How to make exercise fun forever
Some would agree variety is the spice of life, therefore incorporating different activities in a fitness regime could be the 'x factor' in a programme that lasts a lifetime.
Doing the same kind of physical activity over and over again can become mundane and boring resulting in not being excited to constantly do it.
Three things make exercise fun. First you could plan out a period of your training, say about three months. Writing down what you will do weekly making sure there is constant development throughout the period. Constantly check if you are performing better through increased strength or fitness levels. This will keep you more interested which is likely to result in you sticking to exercise.
Secondly you could compete against friends and family with performance and development. Whether it is a weight loss challenge or a strength gain test. This will more than likely make you more accountable to achieving the goals you will periodically set yourself.
Finally doing different kinds of training in order to challenge yourself and see your progress from your day to day training. Measure flexibility, mobility, speed, endurance and strength. So from stretching, go to weight training and some kind of long-distance running. A great tester of all these attributes is attempting a local boot camp which pushes individuals to test themselves and see what has been developing and what areas could do with improvement.
