Murder accused on the run after escaping from medical facility

A murder accused who escaped from custody while receiving medical attention has remained on the run for almost two weeks, with police warning members of the public not to approach him.

The Clarendon police are searching for Marlo Headly, whose last known address is Palmer’s Cross, Clarendon.

Headly reportedly escaped from custody on Saturday, September 5, while being attended to at a medical facility.

Since then, police said they have received information suggesting that Headly has been spotted at various locations across the Clarendon Division.

Police also believe he may be suffering from a medical condition.

Headly was in custody in connection with two separate murder charges in Clarendon, including the alleged murder of a female teacher and the alleged murder of a fellow inmate.

He is described as being of dark complexion and slim build, with slightly crossed eyes. He is approximately 175 centimetres, or 5 feet 9 inches, tall.

Police are warning that Headly should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone who sees him or has information that could help police locate him is urged to contact the Clarendon Police Operations Office at 876-886-4443, the police emergency number 119, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.

The police are also warning that anyone who knowingly assists, shelters or harbours an escaped prisoner could face prosecution.

Headly is being urged to surrender peacefully, while relatives, associates and anyone who may be in contact with him are being asked to encourage him to turn himself in.
