Unbeaten Manley target KT

Norman Manley High will go hunting for their fourth consecutive win in the ISSA Manning Cup competition when they travel to the Alpha Boys Institute to face off against Kingston Technical High (KTHS) today in Zone C action.
Norman Manley have enjoyed a positive start to the first round with three wins in a row against Ardenne High, Edith Dalton James High and Donald Quarrie High.
Their perfect start has also been highlighted by their eye for goal this season having found the back of the net 18 times while only conceding once.
Norman Manley’s head coach, Shane Gage, is pleased with his team’s performances but said they must remain consistent as they navigate the first round.
“As always, being consistent is an important factor in anything. We are trying to be consistent and we are trying to remain humble,” Gage said.
He continued, “The school is hungry for something like this. We said hard work and dedication is what we need to achieve. We are putting in the hard work and being dedicated and most importantly, we are putting God first.”
A win for Norman Manley would put them on the brink of qualifying for the second round while also dealing a massive blow to KTHS’ chances of advancing.
Also in Zone C action, Denham Town High will look for their third win in a row when they play hosts to Donald Quarrie at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
Denham Town sit third in the group on six points, but could move clear of second-place Edith Dalton James who will not be in action today.
Denham Town are coming off a 2-1 win over Ardenne High in their last game, while Donald Quarrie are still licking their wounds after a 6-0 thrashing from Norman Manley in their last outing.
Over in Zone A, Camperdown High, the only other perfect team in the competition, will welcome Jonathan Grant in a match they will enter as strong favourites.
A win for Camperdown would put them atop Zone A which has proven to be one of the more competitive first-round zones.
Bridgeport High will also be in action today when they take on Waterford High in an away fixture.
Bridgeport are high on confident after turning back Jonathan Grant 4-1 in their last game, and will believe they can do the same against Waterford who have lost all three of their matches this season.
In Zone B, St Mary’s College could move back atop the standings as zone leaders Innswood High will not be in action today.
St Mary’s College are looking to return to winning ways after a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Innswood in their last outing.
They will face off against Penwood High, who are also seeking a win after back-to-back defeats.
All games are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m.
