Men should pay the bills

Dear Pastor,

The question being asked is, how far should a lady go in supporting her man? I would say not far, because the responsibility of a man is to be in charge. If a woman has to pay all the bills, there is no need for a man. God has put men in charge of the home and has given them prominence. God bless you, Pastor.

Evidently, you take the position that regardless of what may be happening to the man, he should find ways to pay his bills, and even if the woman has to give him help now and then, she should not do so often. Some people may agree with you, but others wouldn't, because the man might have fallen on hard times. He could lose his job and not earning anything. He may find it very difficult to get a job.

A good woman should not hesitate in taking charge and not complain about it. Perhaps when you say she shouldn't help him for long, you mean that he should not take it for granted that his woman would pay, so he should relax and allow her to pay the bills. I know that there are some men who do not pay all the bills at all in their home, whether they are working or not. They insist that the woman should pay half the bills, even in the supporting of their children in sending them to school. The woman must pay half the school fees and they pay half.

May I invoke an extra blessing on men who do not look to their women for anything if they are capable of supporting their families? All of us know that there are some worthless, good-for-nothing men who live off women. They have no shame. But good men take pride in supporting their homes.
