A man who shot a policeman and robbed him of his motorcycle and service pistol in Portmore, St Catherine, four years ago has been found guilty of several serious offences.

Javon Marshall was convicted in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Friday, October 16, 2026.

He was found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, using a firearm to commit a felony, wounding with intent and robbery with aggravation.

Justice Yvonne Brown ordered that Marshall be remanded in custody until January 22, 2027, when he is to be sentenced.

The Crown led evidence that on February 14, 2022, the police constable was shot by hoodlums who robbed him of his motorcycle and service pistol along Municipal Boulevard in Portmore.

The injured officer was subsequently found in bushes and rescued by two men, who assisted him to hospital.

He was admitted in critical condition.

An intensive investigation was launched, which led to Marshall’s arrest and subsequent charge.
